The HTML5 Edition Is Here!

The new HTML5 edition of my popular textbook, Web Development and Design Foundations with HTML5 (6th edition), is available at Amazon.com. This edition focuses on how to use HTML5 and CSS3 today and while introducing new elements and techniques that will be utilized in the future.

The release of the 6th edition also marks the 10 year anniversary of the textbook — the 1st edition was published back in 2002 — with new editions about every 18 months to keep current with industry trends.

Visit the textbook's companion website at http://webdevfoundations.net for more information about the book.

hi,
as a future web developer, if i were to buy one book, which book would be more useful/in-depth:
basics of web design
or web development and design?
Thanks!

Good question! While both provide an introduction to web design best practices, HTML5, and CSS3, the books are structured a bit differently. The Basics of Web Design: HTML5 & CSS3 book is organized into two-page sections on each topic so you can get into a new topic very quickly. The Web Development Foundations with HTML5 book offers more detailed and more in-depth explanations/examples, includes additional Hands-On Practice exercises and case studies, and introduces additional business-related topics such as e-commerce and the web development project life cycle.

Thanks for your quick answer! Also,
does the book come with access and downloads of the code examples or does that have to be purchased separately?
And does it come in ebook format to purchase not rent?
Thanks!

The printed books each have an access code for free download of code examples and starter files.
The Basics of Web Design: HTML5 & CSS3 Kindle ebook was available on Amazon.com but it had some formatting issues and is not currently available. However, an ebook version is available for rent at http://coursesmart.com. The Web Development and Design Foundations with HTML5 Kindle ebook is available for purchase at Amazon.com. Due to distribution issues, people who obtain the ebook will need to purchase the companion files from the publisher.
